Satellite Triptych: The compositions within this woven carpet are taken from satellite imagery of Australia’s arid interior. The original images have been duplicated and mirrored to create kaleidoscopic symmetrical forms. The landscape depicted is wild, hostile and unfamiliar to most Australians but when this sublime unpredictability is repeated, reflected and given symmetry, patterns emerge. The result appears mathematical and the landscape is rendered with a sense of order - the country has been ‘civilised’.

This work was exhibited in the group show, Sun It Rises.
